Wright wins Goddard Award of Excellence in Firearms Identification

In early June, Forensic Technology was proud to once again present the Goddard Award for Excellence in firearms identification at the AFTE banquet in Chicago, Illinois.


In its 11th year, this award had the distinction of being presented by none other than Calvin Goddard Zon, grandson of the famed "father of ballistics identification". The 2011 winner was David C. Wright.

Goddard Award Nominations Open

Forensic Technology is proud to open the nomination period for the Calvin H. Goddard Award. Celebrating its 10th year, this annual contest recognizes excellence in the area of firearm identification. The prize consists of a scholarship to attend AFTE’s (Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners) 2011 Training Seminar to be held in Chicago, Illinois, May 29-June 3, 2011.

FDLE pilot program helping police reduce backlogs and catch criminals

Last fall the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (Orlando) instituted a new program designed to reduce a 2-year backlog of firearm evidence, and identify guns that were used in multiple crimes.The program uses IBIS to enter crime scene evidence weekly.
